Sneak peek of my new notebooks

Labels:

Following my yesterday's post about how patient you need to be here
in Andalusia when you start a project, I thought you would like to have
a sneak peek of my new notebooks designed after naive sketches in a
spring/summer spirit. I'm not going to be falsely modest....they're
my new babies and I love them!

There are 14 references in total and those little babies will have an elder brother
in the form of an medium size A5 notebook. And as I told you yesterday, I got carried
away and soon, thank you cards, greeting cards, gift cards and place cards with the same
designs are going to see the day at the print shop.
Someone on Facebook asked me how I was going to market those, well that's another
bit of mental gymnastics...as I realize I also need a new letterhead and calling cards
before sending a decent attrative sample package to some selected shop buyers.
I was telling Monchéri today...how paralyzing this can be...still, showing your own work
is always a thrilling adventure...
And of course, I'm planning to put some on my etsy shop.

A tale of patience

Last week end, I had lunch with Spanish friends and two German students who
stayed 6 months in Granada to learn Spanish. One of them said how much he
had enjoyed his stay in Granada and that he was dreading a bit going back to Germany
to start his new brand career. He asked me why I loved it so much here and it made me
ponder about what Andalusia means to me but also what I learnt here.
With a laugh, I told him, I learnt how to be patient. The truth is that, there is a lot
of postponing here, a lot of "mañana" - meaning let's do it tomorrow. There is no need to
shout at the people you work with, it's just like this and either you accept it and go
with the flow, either you're throwing a fit but it won't help a bit.

I took the picture above outside the printer's shop yesterday while I was waiting
for some job to be done. Yes, this is the kind of sight the sweet guys I work with
have nearly everyday. They're great guys but there is a lot of "mañana" talk. So, gradually I've
learned how to deal with them. It's been nearly 3 weeks, we've been working together on my
new stationary line. From the start, I've been setting myself a timeframe of 1 month and
I'm glad we didn't exceed it yet....Not long ago, on the blog, I was telling you how excited
I was to see how the notebooks I designed would turn out. They are indeed cute
but then I thought, it would also be good to have a medium size notebook, plus
greeting cards, thank you cards, gift tags, place cards and menu cards....So yes,
I got carried away and again lots of patience is needed and I can't wait to show you the result!
